Gaspard Colet de Rapalje—G 13
b. 1505 Sur Loire, France.

Gaspard was a colonel in the French infantry in 1545.  In 1548, he became a Huguenot and had to flee France to avoid religious persecution and stayed with relatives in Antwerp, Belgium.  Legend sates he married the daughter of Abram Janssen, a noted painter, though this is not proven.  The de Rapelje family supposedly owned large estates in Brittany, took part in the crusades, and were early converts to the “Reform faith”.  As a result, some were killed and others fled to Switzerland, Belgium and Holland.

Aucke Janse Van Nuys—G 13, son of Jan Goosens and Ebelken Hermans.
b. 1618 or 1621 Holland.
d. 1698 New Utrecht, NY.

Aucke immigrated to New Amsterdam about 1651 from Amsterdam.  He was a carpenter and built the first church in Flatbush, NY.  He lived in Brooklyn in 1661, Flatlands in 1665, Flatbush in 1669, and New Utrecht by 1675.

Guillaume “Willem” de la Vigne—G 13, son of Jean de la Vigne.
b. ~1590 Valenciennes, France.
d. bef. 4/30/1632 New Amsterdam, NY.

Guillaume was a French refuge to Holland.  In Holland he was known as Guelyn Vigne.  In 1613, the couple came to America on a fleet of 4 ships.  Their ship, the Tiger, caught fire and burned on Manhattan beach.  Their 3rd child was born during their first winter.  They were one of the first settlers in Manhattan and owned property where Wall St. is now.  Their farm was on the East River where Wall St. intersects with Pearl St.  Another source stated they sailed for New Amsterdam in April of 1624 on the Nieu Nederlandt.
